Be remarkable!

From Kevin Carroll's blog ( http://kevincarrollkatalyst.com/): "Remarkable. It’s a simple word. It means “worthy of attention.” Remarkable people seek and attract remarkable ideas, people, experiences. So to begin to even think remarkable is a bold act. In the words of The Big Moo: “Bringing remarkable ideas to market depends on the vehicle transporting them – You. Stop trying to be perfect and start being remarkable.”

To recap, the word "remarkable" simply means "worthy of attention."

We've all had those days where someone does something that impacts us to the point where we find ourselves telling someone else about the occurrence much later in the day or week.

I read a story just this week of a little 1st grade boy who was frequently targeted by a group of school bullies. (Note: this is not the remarkable part...)

One particular day, a 5th grade girl happened to find the boy as he was recovering from a "beat-down" session. She quietly helped him collect his things and dust himself off. She then walked the little boy home just to be sure that he would get there safely.

The next day, the little boy's mom came to the school and went from class to class looking for the little girl who had so kindly helped her son. When she came to the girls room, the teacher asked the class if anyone knew what had happened. No one responded so he encouraged the mom to keep looking. When he went back to the class, everyone was talking feverishly about who it could have been. Everyone...except one girl who was unusually focused on her math work.

When the girl looked up to meet the teacher's questioning gaze, her stern stare quickly told the teacher all he wanted to know. She had helped the boy and had no desire to be recognized. She went out of her way to help someone simply because it was the right thing to do. That was remarkable and it has stuck with me.

This week's challenge has 2 parts:

1) What can you do to be remarkable this week? Think of something you can do or say to go the extra mile. Do something this week that is "worthy of attention".

2) Remarkable things happen every day. Keep your eyes open for something remarkable or someone who does something remarkable.

Post a comment with your results for this 2 part challenge. I can't wait to read about your remarkable week! :-)
